The Graduate Management Admission Council has shortened the G.M.A.T exam by 30 minutes which will be effective from 16 April, 2018. The new exam will be of 3 hours and 30 minutes including test instructions and breaks. The Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative sections are shortened by 13 and 10 minutes respectively. The Integrated Reasoning and Analytical Writing Assessment along with the Score Preview and the optional break time will remain same. These changes will not have any impact on scoring in the shortened Verbal Reasoning and Quantitative sections as only the unscored items have been removed by the GMAC. The Quantitative and Verbal Reasoning sections of the G.M.A.T are computer-adaptive, meaning the difficulty of the test tailors itself in real-time to your ability level. Here’s how it works: The first question you receive in either the Verbal or Quantitative sections will be of medium difficulty. As you answer each question, the computer scores your answer and uses it as well as your responses to any preceding question to select the next question. If you answer the first question correctly, the computer will usually give you a harder question. If you answer the first question incorrectly, your next question will be easier. This process continues until you complete the section, using responses to all previously answered questions, at which point the computer will have and accurate assessment of your ability in that subject. As there are no specific dates for conducting G.M.A.T 2018, prospective test takers can choose a date according to their convenience. However, candidates have to take at least 16 days’ break between two attempts. Also, one cannot exceed five G.M.A.T exams within a 12-month period. A candidate can take no more than eight re-tests in a lifetime.

How to Send G.M.A.T Scores to B-Schools?

There are two ways to send G.M.A.T scores to respective business schools. The free option is available on the G.M.A.T 2018 test day and is useful if candidates already have decided on the schools they wish to send their scores. But, if test takers are undecided and need more time to pick schools, the paid option is available as well.
Within a span of 20 days from the respective test dates of G.M.A.T 2018, the official Score Report would be sent to up to five programmes that one selects. The service charge for the same is included in the registration fee, so candidates do not need to pay any extra amount. However, for additional score reports, one has to pay $35 extra for each report.
