CAT 2020: 10 Key Features & Changes
- CAT 2020 Exam date is November 29, 2020
- Exam will be held in two slots –Morning & Evening
- CAT 2020 offers option to select six test cities in order of preference instead of four cities last year
- CAT 2020 exam pattern remains same as was last year with 100 questions divided into three sections
- CAT 2020 Exam Registration will remain open from August 5 to September 16, 2020
- CAT exam Registration Fee is increased to Rs 2000/-
- CAT testing mode is computer based as was last year. Candidates need to attend the exam at test centers.
- CAT 2020 Test Cities are 156
- Tutorial to understand the CAT exam pattern will be released on October 16, 2020
- CAT 2020 exam Admit Card download starts on October 28, 2020
- CAT 2020 scoring pattern remains same as last year with +3 marks for each correct answer and -1 mark for each wrong answer for MCQs only. No negative marking for Non-MCQs.

What is CAT Exam?
CAT is the Common Admission Test for admission to MBA/PGDM programmed in 20 Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and other top MBA colleges like FMS Delhi, MDI Gurgaon, SPJIMR Mumbai, IMI New Delhi, IMT Ghaziabad and hundreds of other top MBA colleges in India. IIMs will offer admission on the basis of CAT 2020 only and will not accept any other test score. There are more than 150 cities and more than 400 venues where CAT 2020 will be conducted in India. Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Indian institute of Science (IISC) also use CAT for admission to their Management programmed.

- As per CAT 2020 Eligibility Criteria candidates having bachelors degree with minimum 50% marks can apply for the exam. Final year undergraduate students can also apply though they have to produce passing certificate at the time of counselling.
- CAT 2020 Application fee has been increased, General/OBC candidates have to pay INR 2000 whereas SC/ST/PWD/EWS aspirants are required to pay INR 1000.
- CAT 2020 will take place in over 376 exam centers in 156 cities in two slots morning and afternoon. Furthermore, the authorities also release official mock tests prior to the actual exam date, in order to give the applicants a basic idea about CAT Exam Pattern.
- Candidates will be tested on their Quantitative, Verbal/Reading, Data Interpretation and Reasoning Skills. A total of 100 MCQ & Non-MCQ questions are to be attempted in 3 hour duration, with sectional time limit of 60 minutes.

Will CAT 2021 be postponed?
As per reports, despite several COVID-19 disruptions, CAT 2021 will neither be canceled nor be postponed. CAT aspirants need not worry as CAT 2020 will not face the same fate as that of many other competitive exams in India. IIM Indore Director Prof Himanshu Rai and CAT convener Prof Harshal Lowalekar ahve confirmed the news.
CAT Eligibility Criteria: Who can apply?
- Applicants with Bachelor’s degrees – These should be from accredited universities. Furthermore, students should have at least 50% marks or the equivalent GPA.
- Applicants with a professional degree, such as a CA, CS, or ICWA, with the same marks as the Bachelor’s candidates.
- Students in their final year of their Bachelor’s degrees.

How to Apply for CAT 2021?
Step 1:Registration – Register for the exam by visiting the official website.
Step 2:Filling Application Form – Enter personal details like contact information, academic details, work experience, program preference and exam center preference.
Step3: Uploading Documents The next step includes scanning and uploading documents (Photograph, Signatures & Required certificated)
Step4:Payment of Application Fee – As per the official news, CAT Application Fee for the next session is expected to increase by a sum of INR 100 and can probably go up to INR 2,000.
