Before 2009, C.A.T was a paper-based test conducted on a single day for all candidates. The pattern, number of questions and duration have seen considerable variations over the years. On 1 May 2009, it was announced that C.A.T would be a Computer Based Test starting from 2009. The American firm Prometric was entrusted with the responsibility of conducting the test from 2009 to 2013. The first computer-based C.A.T was marred with technical snags. The trouble was diagnosed as ‘Conficker’ and ‘W32 Nimda’, the two viruses that attacked the system display of the test, causing server slow down. Since 2014 onward, C.A.T has been conducted by Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). C.A.T 2015 and C.A.T 2016 were 180-minute tests consisting of 100 questions (34 from Quantitative Ability (QA), 34 from Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), and 32 from Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR)).

The Common Ad’mission Test (C.A.T) is a computer based test for ad’mission in a graduate management program. The test scores a candidate on the bases of Quantitative Ability (QA), Verbal Ability (VA) and Reading Comprehension (RC), Data Interpretation (DI) and Logical Reasoning (LR). The Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) started this exam and use the test for selecting students for their business administration programs. Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024

Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 for MBA admission 2025 in all the 21 IIMs and other top MBA colleges in India, is scheduled on November 24, 2024, the last Sunday of the month. IIM Calcutta is likely to conduct CAT 2024 with more aspirant friendly changes in the exam. Qualifying Exam: Applying candidate must have passed his/her Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from a recognized board or university.
Minimum Marks: Candidate must have passed his/her qualifying exam with minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA. For the candidates belonging to ST/SC/PWD category must have passed with minimum of 45% marks.
Age Criteria: There will be no lower or upper age limit prescribed for appearing in C.A.T exam.
Candidates who possess an equivalent exam degree recognized by MHRD, Government of India (including AMICE of the Institution of Civil Engineers) are also eligible.
Appearing candidates: Candidates appearing in the final year of their Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent can also apply.
